Another 30 yellow and black electric bikes have been added to the fleet. They were purchased by the municipality of Trnava and are marked by the City logo. The first fifty electric bikes were donated to the municipality by the company Lucron. After a service inspection, the electric bikes will be gradually made available to the public, starting from today.

Approximately five hundred people are currently registered in the Arboria Bike system. Electric bikes are widely used during both working days and at weekends, so an increase in their number is a welcome step.

“There is very good feedback from users regarding the shared electric bikes. Many residents use them for transport to and from work. However, the bikes are on the move from morning to evening, since people use them to go shopping or to the town, as well as for trips to Kamenný Mlyn,“ says Andrej Habinak from the City office in Trnava, which manages Trnava bikesharing. “People who use the electric bikes have created a Facebook group to communicate. The users can give advice to new members, inform each other on current events, and provide us system providers with valuable feedback,“ he added.

Anyone older than 18 can join the ranks of electric bike users, regardless of their permanent residence. Registration is possible on arboriabike.sk, via the free mobile application Freebike, or personally in the First Contact Office (FCO) in the City of Trnava Office, Trhová Street No. 3. To register, the potential user must pay a sum of 20-EUR for use of the system and as a credit to pay for their borrowing until the end of season. The system can be accessed after a contract is signed in person in the FCO.

Very soon, it will be possible to make payments online at arboriabike.sk. However, the user must still make a personal visit of the City of Trnava office due to legislation.

After successful registration, the user can find a free electric bike in the streets of Trnava using the Freebike application and enjoy fast and comfortable transport throughout the town.

All necessary information is available at arboriabike.sk, and the name of the Facebook group is Arboria Bike – Bikesharing Trnava.

If you spot electric bikes in the City Hall courtyard...

We would like to ask users not to borrow Arboria Bike electric bikes parked in the City Hall courtyard. If your map or Freebike application shows you bikes here, your journey to borrow there would be wasted.

The City Hall courtyard houses a closed area where the electric bikes are serviced, if necessary. After repair, they are put back into operation – either directly in front of the City Hall or to the nearby Pracháreň virtual station. Thank you for understanding.

A long-awaited date is finally here – everyone who wants to use shared electric bikes within Trnava and is older than 18 years can be registered into the Arboria Bike system from Monday, February 25th, 2019. There are 3 ways to register:

  1. In the free mobile application Freebike.
  2. Personally, at the First Contact Office in the City of Trnava office, Trhová 3, Trnava.
  3. On the website arboriabike.sk.
  4. In the free mobile application Freebike.

For successful access to the system of borrowings, a contract must be signed in the First Contact Office (FCO), and a fee must be paid. The minimum amount of this fee is 20-EUR which serves as an annual tariff. In the case of registration via the website or application, the user must visit the FCO within 2 working days to provide a signature and payment. This must be done before the user’s first ride, because their account will blocked before completion of this step. Access data and possibly a chip card are available to everyone after registration to the system. The card can be used to ensure an easy start and end to the borrowing, if the user prefers this method to the mobile application. After meeting all terms, the user may ride the electric bikes from Friday, 1st March, when the yellow and black steeds return to the streets of Trnava after a winter break.

Electric bikes Arboria Bike serve for short-term transport around the town. The current location of available bikes is shown on the map at arboriabike.sk and in the Freebike application. Just find a bike, borrow it via an app or by holding a chip card to the reader, and enjoy a comfortable ride. Bike borrowing is free of charge for the first fifteen minutes, after which the cost for use of the electric bike can be found on the price list below, as well as at arboriabike.sk.

There are currently 71 virtual stations where the electric bikes can be returned free of charge after the end of the ride. Return of a bike away from any station is charged at a sum of 40 cents, although the electric bikes may only be left in areas accessible to the public. For safety reasons, the electric bikes must not be ridden along the pedestrian zone on Hlavná Street.

A trial run of Trnava bikesharing took place in the autumn of 2018. Hundreds of interested residents responded to a public call to test the borrowed electric bikes and helped to prepare the system for real operation.

“The response from the public was very positive. We appreciate the constructive cooperation and help from all who have tested electric bikes. Thanks to them we were able to modify and tune up the system so that borrowing of the city electric bikes was simple, fast and practical for users,” said Trnava mayor Peter Brocka. “After the real operation is launched we expect considerable interest from the wider public, since testing has shown that the shared electric bikes have a place in the town and are very popular with people.”

Members of the test group have already been registered in the user database. However, they must still come to the First Contact Office to pay the fee.

One new development since the trial run is an option to pause borrowing. For example, if you need to drop into the shop, you can reserve the electric bike for ten minutes without worrying it will be borrowed by someone else in the meantime. The municipality wants to test this new function directly in the terrain, therefore pausing of borrowing will be free of charge for the first two months.

Arboria Bike is a project of the City of Trnava in cooperation with the company Lucron.

Electric bikes are in the streets, and we are starting a trial run

Electric bikes are in the streets, and we are starting a trial run

Trnava has started a system of shared bikes which will serve the public for short-term transport within the city. The project of the City of Trnava in cooperation with the Lucron company, which is constructing the neighbourhood known as Arboria, is called Arboria Bike. Its objective is to motivate the public to use this traditional yet modern means of transport.

Bikes are not only ecological, they are also practical in the city and allow riders faster transport from one point to another without the fear of traffic jams or parking problems. What’s more, Arboria Bike shared bikes are equipped with electric drive, making their journey even faster and easier.

There will be forty electric bikes in operation, with another ten in reserve for use during repairs.

“Thanks to our cooperation with the company Lucron, which donated the shared bikes to the municipality, we are introducing Trnava residents to a new means of transport within the town. The unique aspect of this project is that the electric bikes do not require parking stations. I believe it will be easier for people to transport themselves around Trnava, and that they will enjoy a new riding experience from the electric drive function,” said Trnava mayor Peter Brocka.

Interested persons can register in The First Contact Office at the City of Trnava, Trhová 3. All they must then do is find a free bike at one of nearly twenty posts around the town territory, borrow it via the mobile application Freebike or a special card, and ride to another post nearest to your journey destination. Payment is based on a lump sum selected in advance, after termination of the borrowing the electric bike is immediately free for another user.

Arboria Bike posts will be ready in a short time. However, the yellow and black steeds can already be seen in the streets of Trnava—a trial operation is currently underway for a closed group of people, and the system is being tuned up to ensure the best possible functioning. A contact line will be established for assistance with any technical problems.

“Our philosophy is to apply modern ecological solutions, whether they concern new construction or mobility in the town. Arboria is a new urban quarter, and it is our pleasure to support Trnava’s efforts towards better and greener transport,“said Peter Kavecky, a sales manager of the company Lucron.

Details on the functioning of the shared bikes system in our town, together with other necessary information, will shortly be available on the websites arboriabike.sk and trnava.sk.
